A Masterclass in Self-Destruction

The Filipino Left is a marvel of ideological purity, a beacon of hope for the masses that's been reduced to a laughingstock. Their infighting is a masterclass in self-destruction, a spectacle that's both mesmerizing and cringe-worthy.

With their endless debates over the finer points of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist thought, the Left has managed to turn revolution into a parlor game. It's like they're competing in some sort of ideological Olympics, where the gold medal goes to whoever can recite the most obscure Lenin quote.

And yet, despite their impressive display of ideological gymnastics, the Left remains woefully out of touch with reality. They're like a bunch of medieval scholars debating the number of angels that can fit on the head of a pin, while the world around them burns.

It's a miracle, really, that the Left has managed to survive this long, given its remarkable ability to shoot itself in the foot. But perhaps that's the problem – they're too busy congratulating themselves on their ideological purity to notice the world passing them by.

The people deserve better. They deserve a Left that's relevant, that's effective, and that's willing to get its hands dirty in the messy business of building a better world. But until the Left can put aside its ego trips and ideological abstractions, it will remain a sideshow, a marginal player in the country's politics.
